Conductivity
cell information
The
board is designed to measure aqua solutions via conductivity cell with K=1
constant and 10K thermistor.

Note:
Conductivity cells should be calibrated using a standard
solution before using. When selecting a standard, choose one
that has the approximate conductivity of the solution to be measured. After
using the probe for some time, you might consider cleaning the plates
with a mild liquid soap or acetone - Note: Do not
use abrasive materials in cleaning.
Calibrations
1.
Connect conductivity cell K=1 with Thermal Compensation TC (thermistor of
10K ohms @ 25 degrees centigrade) to the board (see below drawings).
Note:
Any non–used wire, as well as shielded wire, can be connected to the
Non-Connected (NC) pins of the MINI-DIN-6 connector.
Please
be advised that wire connections to the board can be done either via the
MINI-DIN-6 connector (PS/2 like connector), or wires can be soldered
directly to the board (corresponding connector pins).
2.
Connect and power the board via 11-24VDC or 11-16VAC or 12V car battery.
3.
Short switch wires. Ideally it’s done via command from the PLC through
dedicated relay. Switch will be sufficient, however, all that we recommend
is that you power the board for about 30 – 90 seconds. At the same time,
take a reading and turn the board off. This will extend the conductivity
cell life (reduce build-up).
4.
While the cell is dry (not with contact with any liquid) in room
temperature (25C), set P3 trimmer (10K ohms trimmer) so the output voltage
is 0.000V. This function is also known as zero calibration.
5.
Insert the cell into buffer of 1413uS (NIST traceable) at 25C, and set the
output voltage via P4 (10K ohms trimmer) so that the output voltage is
141.3mV. This function is also known as calibration.
6.
Clean and dry the cell.
7.
Insert the cell into unknown aqua-solution and get corresponding voltage
readings.
Note:
V-Out is scaled down in a ratio of 10:1 via R31 and P5 i.e. 1.413V to
141.3mV if you don’t need this function, shorten P5 (100K trimmer) pins.
